hello all. an update, amazing, i know. well, i'm in the middle of packing to move back to grebel and school and i am beginning to seriously doubt that everything is going to fit into my truck and i'm beginning to get worried. i accumulate soo much stuff. and it's just stuff. i didn't want to bother sorting before i left, but when i get to grebel, i'm doing a major going over of all my stuff, clothes especially. everyone teases me about how many clothes and shoes i have, but i never quite realized it until i packed up grate after crate of them. they need to go.
so life is going very well for me, tomorrow is my last day of work, last day of irate customers yelling at you and making you feel like *beep* for those of you who didn't know, i was a customer service rep for (onward manufacturing a bbq company) and what i learned this term is customers will take any little thing, blow it up and complain to you about it for 20 minutes. but looking on the bright side the pay was good and i got my little bbq and a nice bbq for my dad out of it. and tomorrow is my LAST day!!!!!
people are starting to drift back to waterloo. my roommate was over last night and we were making popcorn then there was a knock on the door and my friend who i haven't seen since winter term was on my doorstep! i absolutely love random visits like that, i love having people in my house/room/wherever i live. so if anyone ever wants to take a trip up to Canada, please feel free to come visit!
in 6 days, the frosh come to grebel and the rest of the university of waterloo. i'm a frosh leader this term, and get to welcome the frosh, get to know them, and help out with all the crazy and fun activities we have planned for them. i'll likely get 20 hours of sleep all week, but i cannot wait, it's going to be amazing!
only problem is my camera is telling me 'lens error' don't know what that means, but it won't open and casio said it would cost between 30-100 to fix it, which is making me think i should just buy a new one. i was thinking of doing that, but i was hoping to sell the one i have now and get a hundred or such for it to put towards buying the new camera. but i'll have to think about it, don't want to rush into anything yet.
looking far into the future, next co-op term (winter to spring) i'm managing my granny's sugarbush (thomas sugarbush, you've all seen the hoodie). because the sap won't start running until at least feb, for hopefully a month, i'll be in the states 'planning' if my co-op advisor asks, but really just starting to organize things and being with people that i miss terribly. it'll be the first time i've been home for more than 4 days since i moved out, so i think it's high time for a longer visit. except that my family has moved to north carolina so i'm not quite sure where home is anymore, but i'll be splitting my time between nc and de, so plan to hang out sometime this winter :o)
well, i really must get back to this packing. if anyone has any ideas to either make my truck grow, or my stuff shrink, please do share!

as to my recent life. . .
last night i applied to be a frosh leader, i handed in my application with 3 minutes to spare, yes! go me :oP frosh leaders are those who are here during frosh week and who show the frosh around and lead the awesome activities. i have an interview for that next friday and i don't know when we find out
but i'm hoping i can't be a frosh leader, namely because i'm a don. i made it to the short list for that and had my interview last friday and i find out this friday. ahhhh! i really really want to be a don. (Canadian equivalent of an ra) i'm scared of friday and finding out.
this weekend was really quiet at grebel. a lot of people went home but friday night there was mission impossible/mud fight! my friend Tali and i decided to go all out for this so we put on our spywear (ie. dark clothes that could get dirty) then proceeded to crawl all over and be super-sneaky, in the rain and mud, i might add. and our team won! then we went outside and had a mud fight/slid down the hill. quite amusing.
saturday i went shopping with my aunt and two cousins, looking for an interview outfit for me (i didn't find one, tear, but i had a great time with my cousin, she was picking out outfits for me to try on, and matching accessories, she was really enjoying herself) then we went back to their house and had supper and watched meet the parents and made cookies. really yummy cookies, i miss cooking!

and today i had class and not too much interesting stuff, though i had really entertaining conversations at both breakfast and lunch which was quite nice. and now i'm going to clean my side of the room, it's lacking in the organizational department. bye all!

<lj:music>country-danielle are you proud, melissa converted me!</lj:music>

hey guys, i need some help here. friday morning, when i opened the door, instead of simply opening it and being able to walk out, i was confronted with this:

ie. in front of our door they taped lots of newspapers then filled the space between that newspaper and our door with more crumpled up newspapers. so we ran through the door (and i got stuck on the duct tape) then we went back to re-examine what exactly was attatched to our door

so you can see the newspaper joyously wishing us merry Christmas (yes, it is still only november here, someone's getting into the holiday spirit a bit early, and by a bit i mean a lot early). and the pile of newspaper that spilled all over.

so now that you can see what exactly took place, i need help coming up with a prank to get back at those who did this terrible thing to us! there were 6 people involved, megan and steph, who are roommates and live across the hall from us, dave and ben, who live upstairs and are roommates, kate, who lives at the other end of the hall, and dennis, who lives upstairs.

does anyone have any ideas?

o, and also, saturday night there was a party in our room but i left halfway through to go watch a movie and instead of appreciating the fact that i let them stay in my room, those in the room repayed me by pulling my roommates bed in front of the door so i could hardly get in. that's a lesser prank, but if anyone has any ideas of something i could do to mike, who was the mastermind behind the whole affair, or rob, cheryl and ryan who let mike do it then laughed at me when i couldn't get in, do please share.

all prank ideas are willingly accepted and if i use them i will definitely provide many pictures and an explanation of how exactly it worked out. thanks for the help :o)

i am restricting my lj friends to un-waterloo people (mainly because i only know of one guy here who even know what an lj is, from everyone else all i get is blank stares) but i feel kind of bad talking about what i'm doing up here when none of you are included in it. it feels like i'm bragging and you guys have no idea what i'm talking about, but at the same time i enjoy reading my other friends to see what they're up to and know how they're getting on and commenting so i feel somewhat involved in their lives. my question is, therefore, would you prefer i keep updating about my life, even if it doesn't often include de friends but you will know what's going on with me, or would you prefer i limit my entries to only things that would be de-inclusive?

o my goodness guys, guess what, i'm updating, pretty amazing. . .

soo, life here is going very well, i had my first midterm tues. microeconomics, i think it went pretty well, i was stressing so much though, but i survived, hopefully!

and we slept outside sun night, crazyness and so much fun. yes, we actually slept outside with sleeping bags and blankets on the ground (ie on garbage bags on the ground so we wouldn't get wet). some great pictures from that (still on my camera though, bruiser and anna are fighting and won't load the pictures). haha, i love the randomness of university!

as another example of the crazyness of university, i am actually being active here! in addition to walking/biking everywhere, i run every night with the posse and yesterday i joined the intramural beginner volleyball team. it's crazy, i did no sports (i love my tennis girls, but honestly guys, i cheered for you and that was basically it, not a whole lot of action involved there) at home and i was keeping up with rob running, so weird. o well, i need it, what with all these huge grebel cookies!

i love grebel (my res). it is seriously amazing here. almost everyone is a Christian and they are all so friendly and happy and you can randomly wander the halls and 'bug' people (no, they love it!). last tuesday there was 'worship in the chapel' ie singing praise and worship songs for an hour. i loved it. i love singing, i loved the songs, i love living with people who share my faith. i am so glad i made the choice to come here. so many great people.

and today i'm coming home! it's so strange to think that in less than 24 hours i'll be in my family's house again. i don't even know if it is home, i've been calling our room home and i have hardly any stuff at my house anymore.

but i am sooo excited to see everyone. you guys do not know how happy i am! so we should do something, call me: 897-2505. do it!

i have an entry complete with pictures that i wrote and i will post as soon as i have the time to figure it out. who knows when that will be. i feel like i am being pulled in about a hundred different directions and i don't have enough time or energy to give to any of them. there's class, reading the (literally) hundreds of pages i haven't gotten to yet, first midterm in a week, paper thing due thurs, article to find for said paper thing and recopying my messy notes. and that's just school, then there's getting to know people here, keeping our room clean, being friendly. being friendly gets exhausting. honestly, there are times i just don't even want to talk to people and you who know me know that i love to talk. i just want them to leave me alone because i don't even have the energy to be interested in talking to them. i want my de friends who know me and who will be my friends even if we don't talk all that much. but i feel like all my delaware friends are gradually dropping out of my life. i have always loved my email, now i dread checking it because i have so many unanswered letters in my inbox. i had a really quick im chat w. brion this afternoon, but other than that i haven't imed with anyone besides my mom for about a week and the one person i've called is steph and that was pretty brief. i just don't know how to manage everything and make it work out. thanksgiving is in 2 weeks, i can't wait, but then i have a paper due the day we get back, but i don't really care, i need to reconnect with de people. i promise you guys i have not forgotten about you (the abundance of pictures all over my room will make sure of that). i am so sorry if i haven't replied/talked to you. i want to, i really do. i just don't know how to make it all come together. i'm trying.

    <lj:music>phantom of the opera</lj:music>

so in the last week i have. . .been a pirate, decided i have too many shoes, been a 'gumshoes', met and gone on a walk with the love of my life, officially finished moving in, stalked people, had several pillow fights, laughed so hard i spit out my milk, gambled, chased sea-gulls, watched fight club, started at least 2 clubs, fallen off my chair and have been thouroughly enjoying myself here at waterloo and particularly grebel. so let me explain:
pirate: arts faculty orientation, ie really boring and i skipped out on most of it but i got a purple pirate shirt! and a bandana and all sorts of other really random stuff in the orientation bag including an add for a diner that had a condom in it, so weird, i would never think 'hmm, i'm advertising for a diner, i should give out condoms'
too many shoes: i brought 10 pairs of shoes, 7 pairs of flip flop and 2 pairs of slippers with me and i have more at home. enough said
gumshoes: grebel (my residence) orientation. lots of fun, theme was carmen sandiego and getting pieces for the map to silver lake. this included doing many games, mixers, catching henchmen, etc. i want to be a frosh leader next year
love of my life: at silver lake the last activity sat night is the 'walk-a-mile' otherwise known as the mennonite speed dating game. girls in one line, guys in another, walk with a partner, hold hands, occasionally change partners, all in the pitch black of course. and when they were introducing themselves most of the faculty who went to grebel would say they met their husband/wife on the 'walk-a-mile' so apparently i've already met my husband, i just need to figure out which one he was
officially moved in: my crates/bags are empty! celebration!
stalked people: just two-so far. then steph and i walked along the guys floor 'borrowing' their computers so we could add ourselves to their msn, so yeah, if any of you use msn i will now be on, write me, i'll reply
pillow fights: with our mushies, my really cool yellow polk a dot squishy pillow
laughing+milk: i made the mistake of sitting down at a table of engineers and trish was being too funny and i was trying to finish my milk, not a good combination
gambled: monte carlo, another orientation activity, but dressy, i love dressing up, its so much fun! and there was 'gambling' in the gym, we all got 8 chip things, only we played the spinny game thing and the dealer randomly gave us chips then when they switched dealers aaron kept cheating and provided the chips, so we were there for quite a while
chased sea-gulls: went to the beach while at silver lake and according to erin i 'pranced after sea gulls'
watched fight club: weird movie, but i saw it which i wanted to do
clubs: the banana club for which we have both a theme song (actually we have two), meetings, sports and as soon as greg hurries up we'll have a logo, but that ones top secret, so keep it on the dl. and i'm also in the steph and lynn club, also pretty exclusive but moie fun
fell: there are really weird chairs here, they're hard to explain but there are three 'settings' that you can sit at, so melissa and i were hanging out in our room talking to people and i was leaning back in my chair and i thought there was one more setting so i tipped back and i just kept going and landed on the floor
o and i've been to class too
so in conclusion i quite love it here, school is going to be hard because there's always someone to do something with so i need to work on discipline but i'm sure it'll happen eventually. so that's my life, email me, i'm doing well at reply, at least i'm trying or im always works too, or calling, or you could show up! go with the last option, that would be amazing :oD
hi, i'm at university. and really busy with all the frosh week stuff so this will be short because i'm tired. it's fun most of the time but i keep getting these waves of homesickness when i almost start crying cause i miss everyone so much. i keep telling myself it'll get better and it better, i mean i'm sure it will, it's just really hard right now. and really weird, cause all these people are from these little farming towns that i've connected with my grandparents all my life and now i know people from them. .. i can't explain it, it's just weird and i don't like it. i feel kinda out of place. people are really nice, but being friendly is so tiring, i tried really hard mon but even now i'm running out of energy and just want people that i know are my friends and who like me and want to hang out with me. university is over-rated.

packing, finally, is finished. the van is full and my room is empty. it echoed when i walked into it. it's so strange that it's just me packing and not the rest of my family, and that i'm actually packing and not movers. i've gotten spoiled from the last few moves.

so while packing i discovered i have waaaay too many clothes. i used to have over 80 tshirts, why/how?! but all that has changed. i got rid of many many clothes. 3 big bags + what i got rid of a few weeks ago, so about 5 big bags. and i still have too many left. but i wear what's left, so i kept them. i am taking a lot. i'm afraid it's too much and it won't all fit, i'll find out on monday, ahhhhhh!

now i'm excited. i've gotten to the point where everyone else is away at university and i want to go too!

i've been doing de things today. sammi and i went to ritas for water ice! cause you can't get that in Canada. it was awesome, we were there for almost 2 hours, sitting outside the ritas and talking. . .well more like shouting cause we were getting into memories of senior week and Germany and all sort of other stuff. it was a great time, i'm so glad we went. it didn't even seem like goodbye, we were talking about all the stuff we were planning on doing, etc.

then more packing and becca and cj came over, sat on my porch, threw stuff and said goodbye. then, guess what? more packing!

after supper neil and i went over to kaitlyn's to return her long lost friend hawk nelson and to have pie! it was very yummy! and we talked to her and her mom for a while, then said goodbye too. :o(

and then. . .du du duuuuuh! i finished packing! and the van got packed so when i unplug bruiser and take him i will be all ready to go. i don't know what i'm going to wear for the next few days, i threw random stuff in my 'carry on' that doesn't match, i don't have earrings, no make-up, nothing.

my room is empty, did i mention that. it's so weird

then lauren called so we had another l <3 party. went to the park, discovered it's scary with only two people and no guys, stalked mary, charcoal pit, spent 2.75 on 'crystal aliens' because we were trying to get the one with the american flag for me, had an alien photo shoot, then dropped mary off then me. said goodbye. . .i sense a trend here

and now i'm iming people because i won't have internet for 3 days, catastrophic. so farewell all you little internet people sitting out there in cyberspace reading this.
